The Project

In Prescott, AZ, the newly completed Embry Riddle Aeronautics University T3 Residence Halls mark a significant step forward in student housing for future pilots and aeronautical engineers. These two state-of-the-art buildings and can accommodate 300 residents. With the aviation sector currently grappling with a severe pilot shortage, the need for increased on-campus housing has never been more pressing.

A notable aspect of the T3 Residence Halls is their roofing system, which features lightweight insulating concrete (LWIC). This advanced roofing insulation incorporates tapered EPS holey board insulation with a minimum R-value of R-25, significantly enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability by covering it with a cellular concrete material; another advantage of LWIC is the customization that can take place when onsite.

Building 1, which required 23,000 square feet of tapered insulation, was completed in just four days. This rapid construction timeline highlights the effectiveness LWIC and ease of installation even when tapered roof layouts are required.
