The Project

The Confluence Parkway Project in Wenatchee, WA, represents a significant advancement in infrastructure through its innovative use of cellular concrete. This 2.5-mile, multi-phase project, which commenced Phase 1 in April 2025, integrates cellular concrete as a lightweight backfill material that addresses challenges associated with poor subgrade conditions. By using this material, the project minimizes the need for traditional ground improvements, allowing construction to progress rapidly. To ensure structural integrity, settlement plates are installed to monitor potential settlement, confirming that cellular concrete is an optimal solution for, lightweight backfill in difficult access and complex wall geometries in precast panel wall embankments. With the project slated to continue through at least 2027, its use of cellular concrete highlights the commitment to innovative engineering and effective resource management in modern infrastructure development.
