The Project
Backfill for the retaining wall on an Iowa DOT project is currently taking place. This project is utilizing an SCM of up to 50% substitution to cement; we are placing a class IV cellular concrete in areas where compaction would be very difficult and where the subgrade is very irregular.
The Solution
Differential settlement is easily solved using light weight fills, a combination of Geofoam and Cellular concrete is being used on this project to solve that problem.
