LOCATION: Vancouver, BC
The Project
In a significant transformation of a Vancouver office space, our team embarked on a project focused on Tenant Improvement (TI) enhancements aimed at optimizing the environment for functionality A critical aspect of this renovation was addressing the need for infill in the existing concrete slab to achieve the new finish elevation.
The primary challenge involved filling large areas of the existing concrete slab while ensuring minimal disruption to the ongoing operations of the office space. Additionally, the distance to the point of placement was considerable, requiring a concrete hose to be run 1,000 feet, which posed logistical challenges. This lightweight concrete solution offered several significant advantages:
- Lightweight Properties: Cellular concrete is significantly lighter than traditional concrete, reducing the overall load on the existing structure. This characteristic is especially beneficial in office environments where minimizing structural stress is crucial.
- Ease of Placement: The lightweight nature of cellular concrete allowed for easy transport through the long concrete hose, facilitating efficient placement without the need for heavy machinery or complicated logistics.
- Enhanced Workability: Cellular concrete’s fluid consistency made it easier to fill complex voids and achieve the desired finish elevation with precision, ensuring a smooth transition between existing and new surfaces.
- Speed of Installation: The rapid curing time and ease of handling associated with cellular concrete allowed us to expedite the infill process, minimizing downtime and disruption.
