The Project
The Joint Outfall B Unit 9B Trunk Sewer Rehabilitation project, led by the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts, called for rehabilitating approximately 7,200 linear feet of large-diameter trunk sewer, ranging from 90 to 114 inches, along with 12 associated manholes running through active industrial corridors in Carson and unincorporated Los Angeles County.
Once the new liner was installed, the annular space between it and the aging host pipe needed to be completely and consistently filled to restore structural integrity, all on an aggressive, accelerated schedule that left little room for error. Cell-Crete grouted the annular space with cellular concrete, placed entirely from inside the pipe through designated grout ports — a method that fills hard-to-reach voids precisely and consistently without disturbing the surface or the surrounding corridor above.
Through early coordination with the general contractor, detailed placement planning, and disciplined field execution, our crews kept pace with the compressed schedule while maintaining fill quality across every section. The result: a fully grouted, structurally sound sewer main delivered on time, reinforcing why cellular concrete grouting is the standard for large-diameter pipe rehabilitation.
