The Project

Progress continues at the new Ontario Flight Tower Restaurant, located adjacent to Ontario’s new ballpark. As the project advances, the site conditions required a practical lightweight backfill solution to accommodate utility-heavy areas while maintaining efficient construction sequencing.

Cell-Crete placed cellular concrete in areas with congested overhead and shallow utility lines where conventional soil backfill and mechanical compaction would have created access, safety, and constructability challenges. The low-density, flowable material allowed the backfill to be placed efficiently around sensitive infrastructure, reducing the need for heavy compaction equipment while providing uniform support and controlled placement in confined areas.

This is a strong example of how cellular concrete can help solve site-specific backfill challenges on active construction projects, particularly where utilities, access constraints, and compaction limitations must be carefully managed.
