The Project

TTC Phase 3 is a 3-story, 340,000 square foot technical school addition at Tulsa Technology Center’s Lemley Memorial campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The project features an R-25 minimum tapered lightweight insulating concrete roof system designed to deliver strong thermal performance, a 1-hour fire rating, positive drainage, and a reliable substrate for the completed roofing assembly.

The use of tapered lightweight insulating concrete provides several advantages for this type of roof application. Because the material is placed over eps holey board it helps reduce the overall dead load on the structure while still creating a solid, monolithic surface for the roof membrane. The tapered design builds slope directly into the insulation and concrete assembly, helping move water efficiently toward drains and reducing the potential for ponding. In addition to improving drainage, the system contributes to the required thermal value, enhances fire resistance, and provides a stable, durable base that supports long-term roof performance. By combining insulation, slope, fire resistance, and substrate preparation into one integrated system, the lightweight insulating concrete assembly helps improve constructability while supporting the performance requirements of the overall roofing design.
