The Project
The ASM America Scottsdale project is set to be a key player in the growing technology sector of the City of Scottsdale, featuring an advanced fabrication and testing facility. A highlight of this development is the implementation of Lightweight Insulating Concrete (LWIC) for the roofing insulation. LWIC was selected for its impressive fire ratings and efficient installation benefits. Its flowable nature allows for quick pumping over long distances, which streamlines the construction timeline and cuts down on labor costs. With LWIC, the roofing membrane can be applied just 48-72 hours after the LWIC is poured, reducing exposure time and allowing other trades to move forward more swiftly. The seamless, monolithic surface created by LWIC eliminates the tedious process of cutting and fitting multiple rigid insulation layers for drainage. Additionally, LWIC is non-combustible and offers built-in fire ratings, which means there’s no need for extra fireproofing on the underside of the deck. This innovative solution not only speeds up construction but also supports ASM’s goal of introducing cutting-edge technologies to the region.
