LOCATION: Diamond Bar, CA
The Project
This project involves the application of lightweight cellular concrete (LCC) to fill a bridge abutment within cast-in-place retaining walls. The challenge arises from soil liquefaction, which limits lateral pile resistance at Abutment 1, alongside spatial constraints for the pile cap.
To effectively tackle these issues, LCC is being installed behind Abutment 1 to alleviate lateral pressure. The material will be placed in a slope of 1H:1V, starting from the heel of the footing and extending down to the bottom of the backwall. In total, approximately 5,000 cubic yards of 30 pcf LCC will be poured across four locations throughout the project. Stay tunned for more updates.
